In the event of a building or object having been left and forgotten, over time, nature will always creep in and take over.
The following series of photographs reveal scenes of abandonment, dereliction and decay.
Light becomes a tool in my photographs which are often taken from within dark buildings. As the light leaks in through windows, it signifies the urges of nature to conquer and reclaim.
Most of the images have been taken in derelict mental hospitals that were closed in the late 1990's. The buildings are not dissimilar to prisons. Whilst exploring themes of entrapment, abandonment and a passage of time, my work also depicts the liberation of nature in its quest to redeem spaces.
