My work emanates from a passion of outdoor environments and self immersion within nature. It instigates the viewer to question the elements of an environment, contextually transporting them from a scene of subliminal nature and contemplation to a harsher, organic physicality which is as much wild as it is sheltering.
Living in Wales, I often take myself to the respite of the coast where I am able to contemplate being and existing within the expanse of my chosen environment. This adjournment from the disquiet whirlpool that is modern, urban living offers contrast and opportunity to overcome what I find to be an oppressive environment overshadowed by today’s capitalist plutocracy.
I paint outdoors in pen and watercolour and work in oil on canvas in the studio. Working with paint as a medium, is an organic process whereby I can relive experiences channeling energy to the canvas and finally reaching the viewer.
